Total M.E/M.Tech seats | Rank List for M.E/M.TECH 2009
The total seats for M.E/M.Tech this year is 8740 (including all branches). Out of which 6392 seats only comes under counselling (including all branches). But the no of students taken up the exam is more than 30000. according to the net information regarding mark list (not rank list) top 10000 marks ended with the cut-off value of 29+.

But this may be right time to invest in biotechnology than in previous years as biotech industry in india is expected to create more jobs in next 4-5 years as government realized that without making a ground on biotech our future is highly vulnerable and started promoting micro,small,medium and large kinds of biotech industry by providing money through MSME, BCIL,
If this plan works at least to fifty percent then biotechnologist may find jobs easily in the market... till then its a goldmine only for Ph.D candidates.
And mechanical engineering follows the EC as students choice.
Computer science and engineering looks little sluggish but expected to gear up as the counseling proceeds.

Pass +2 or equivalent examination with major (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics with 50% marks Engineering)
Mode of Selection
· Candidate selection will be done based on aggregate marks
Aggregate Marks are calculated for 200 marks
· 50% for Physics and Chemistry
· 50% for Maths
· Aggregate for OC – 110, OBC – 100, SC/ST – Mere pass is sufficient
Allocation of seats
· 50% of the seats are reserved for students from Tamil Nadu and rest 50% for students on All India Basis and 5 seats for NRI (Over and Above the 25 seats)

It announced that the application forms can be obtained through post and one can apply through online.
The application forms will be available from July 7 to July 25. And July 25 is the last date for submitting the filled up forms.
The eligibility criteria will also be available in Indian Institute of crop processing technology website from July 7,2009.
