Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all-India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordinating Board - GATE, Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

Admission to postgraduate programmes with MHRD and some other government scholarship/assistantship at engineering colleges/institutes in the country are open to those who qualify through GATE. GATE qualified candidates with Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Pharmacy or Master's degree in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications are eligible for Master/Doctoral programmes in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Pharmacy as well as for Doctoral programmes in relevant branches of Science. To avail the scholarship, the candidate must secure admission to such a postgraduate programme, as per the prevailing procedure of the admitting institution. GATE qualification, however, is not required for candidates with Master's degree in Engineering /Technology/Architecture/Pharmacy, who may be seeking scholarship/ assistantship for relevant doctoral programmes.

Some institutions specify GATE as the mandatory qualification even for admission of self-financing students to postgraduate programmes. GATE qualified candidates are also eligible for the award of Junior Research Fellowship in CSIR Laboratories and CSIR sponsored projects. Some government organizations prescribe GATE qualification as a requirement for applying to the post of a Scientist / Engineer.

BIOTECH INDUSTRIAL TRAINING PROGRAMME (BITP) 2010-11 apllication form

On behalf of Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, Biotech Consortium India Limited (BCIL) is implementing since last 15 years, a scheme of practical industrial training for M.Sc./M.Tech./B.E./B.Tech. Biotechnology students. The objective of this programme is to provide industry-specific training to Biotech students for skill development and enhancing their job opportunities in biotech industry.


This programme provides an opportunity to Biotech Industry for training and selecting suitable manpower. The training period is for six months during which a trainee is paid stipend of Rs.8000/- (Revised from this year) per month and trainer company is paid a bench fee to cover the expenses for providing training. The next batch of training will commence in October-November 2010.


previously the stipend paid was Rs.6000/- p.m.

ANNA UNIVERSITY will conduct the counseling for admission into M.E,M.TECH program for 2010-2011. The announcement for issue of TANCET 2010 application form, last date for sending filled application form will be announced shortly by ANNA UNIVERSITY sources. The announcement will also come in News paper.

After the closing of receiving filled up forms ANNA UNIVERSITY wil prepare the TANCET counseling RANK LIST 2010. The TANCET 2010 counseling schedule schedule will be released then only.And the counseling call letter will be mailed to the applicant.

The same procedure is followed for TANCET M.B.A.,M.C.A counseling and TANCET M.Arch.,M.Plan counseling. Separate application form is issued for these courses. Separate RANK LIST is declared and counseling schedule may vary from that of TANCET 2010 M.E.,M.TECH counseling schedule.

Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test, 2010(TANCET 2010) is an entrance examination conducted every year by Anna University on behalf of Tamil Nadu Government for admission in the professional post-graduate programmes in various Government/Private universities/institutes in Tamil Nadu which include Anna University-Chennai, Anna University-Coimbatore, Anna University-Trichy, Anna University-Tirunelveli, Government and Government aided Institutes and Government Quota seats in private Institutes. TANCET is for admission in M.Tech/M.E./MBA/MCA/M.Arch/M.Plan programmes.

TANCET is the most popular examination for aspirants in Tamil Nadu who want to pursue Post Graduation in professional courses in Tamil Nadu. Every year a very large number of candidates in Tamil Nadu appear for TANCET for admission in best colleges and courses in Tamil Nadu. Even candidates from outside Tamil Nadu can appear for TANCET but their admission depends on the rules of particular university/institute.

Eligibility criteria:

MBA:

The forms will be available directly from various centers as notified in the advertisement and hall ticket will be issued on-spot. The form can also be obtained by post by sending a Demand Draft along with the request for form. Candidates can also download the form online through the website www.annauniv.edu. There will be a common form for all the programmes and candidates who want to appear for more than one programme has to pay additional examination fees for every programme.
